Res Bay

The Seiner Series – Book Two

Growing up sport and commercial fishing in Res Bay, their home port, brothers Mack and Pete now have to fight for their right to catch wild Alaskan salmon and this time the fight’s going from the depths of the bay to the governor’s office.

Pete took last year off, at his wife’s insistence. With his twins now in college, everything seems to be costing twice what he’d planned and the Alaskan commercial fishing industry is going through an upheaval. Great. Just what he needs. More pressure.

Known as ‘the quiet twin’, when Justin steps in to take on the second most aggressive job on his dad’s boat everyone looks at him with astonishment. But that’s just the beginning of the changes in his life.

Mack is eager for another salmon seining season in Southcentral Alaska but the impacts of last year’s issues threaten to keep his boat high and dry. Fred Hurley will stop at nothing to keep the status quo and if it locks Mack and his brother Pete out of commercial fishing completely, so much the better.

Last year brought Ginny  to Seward and fishing on Mack’s boat as deckhand but deadly threats left her running for home at the end of the fishing season. But the lure of Alaska calls her back again for another season and this year everything’s different because Pete and his son are back on the water.

None of the fishermen anticipate the newest battles they’ll face but it’s the people in the background who really turn their lives upside down.
