Lift Slip

Slips are spaces in a harbor for boats. This slip is specifically for the harbor boat lift. The hanging straps are submerged and then the lift is rolled forward. Once the straps are in place under the boat they are retracted and the boat is lifted from the slip and driven to a drydock location for storage. The ‘U’ shape in the lift allows for space for tall masts and each wheel on the lift operates independently. Here’s what it looks like from above.

Boat Lift

Boats that are too large for a trailer (or with masts taller than electric lines) need to be lifted into and out of the harbor. Sailboats, because of their tall masts, often must be lifted out.
